Federal Chancellor Merkel visits the health care company MEDICE
Chancellor Merkel visits the health care company MEDICE
During her visit to the company's headquarters in Iserlohn, the Chancellor was particularly interested in MEDICE's strategic development from a pure drug manufacturer to a much broader-based, holistically operating healthcare company that, in addition to pharmaceutical medicine, has been increasingly engaged for several years with innovative concepts in the areas of "Digital Health" and "Sustainability", which are politically promoted by the government.
In her closing statement, Angela Merkel was visibly impressed: "With you, one can observe how you are helping to shape this change, how you are getting involved in it. In terms of ecological compatibility, in terms of climate protection. And how you are courageously moving forward. The fact that we now have a digital care law has enabled you to now also make digital applications for patients." The Chancellor was also particularly impressed with regard to a close digital cooperation partnership with CHARITÉ in the field of nephrology. "In this respect, I can only say thank you for what you are doing."
Katja Pütter-Ammer, MD, Managing Partner of MEDICE, was very pleased: "The meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel was a wonderful opportunity not only to present our strategic transformation from a pure drug manufacturer to a much broader holistic healthcare company, but also to discuss together the major healthcare issues of our time, such as sustainability, climate and health, and digital health."

We are convinced that the future belongs to disease management based on health-relevant patient data. In addition to in-house development of digital health applications (DiGA), eyelevel offers a wide range of consulting services for the integration of digital solutions in the context of digital transformation, including the contract development of digital health applications.
- Sustainability“ is another highly important matter for the MEDICE HEALTHCARE GROUP. An ecologically, economically and socially sustainable proactive stance has always been an integral part of the DNA of the family-run company. Founding sustainable4U GmbH also sets the course towards making „sustainability“ a promising business model for the future. Besides developing ecologically sustainable food, MEDICE is particularly involved in „food waste management“, i.e. the targeted avoidance of food waste, thus making an important contribution to climate protection.
- With GREEN GUIDES GmbH, a partner of the ‘United against Waste’ initiative, MEDICE supports gastronomic businesses (with a focus on hospitals, senior citizen facilities and company restaurants) in reducing food waste by means of a specially developed digital measuring method. This not only saves considerable costs, it also conserves resources and improves the carbon footprint. The budgets saved in this way are to be used by hospitals and senior citizen facilities to finance sustainable4U nutritional concepts.
- At Friend-Ship Gastronomie GmbH, which is responsible for all-round catering in gastronomy and events at MEDICE headquarters in Iserlohn, all work is carried out directly on site. Friend-Ship: Good for us, good for the environment. Friend-Ship is a team of professionals in hotel and catering industry with many years of professional experice, working towards reducing the ecological footprint. The team focuses on the optimal value of food at every preparation step. By sustainably combining regional and seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs and other high-quality foods at the appropriate harvest time, storage costs can be reduced and the throwaway culture counteracted.
At the same time, in partnership with the experts from GREEN GUIDES, Friend-Ship uses state-of-the-at digitalization food waste management to reduce kitchen waste without sacrificing the quality consciousness practiced to produce food.
