Joining Forces: MEDICE acquires majority stake in Schaper & Brümmer

Schaper & Brümmer is a fully-integrated, traditional family-owned company founded 98 years ago in Salzgitter, Germany. It is known for rational phytotherapy with strong, known brands such as ESBERITOX, REMIFEMIN, SEDACUR and CYSTINOL.

Thus, two medium-sized companies combine their expertise and use synergies to grow together in a sustainable way. Not only that: the "chemistry" also works. Both companies are family-owned and look back on long traditions. Close ties, including personal ones, have existed between the two companies since the 1970s.

Schaper & Brümmer will remain as an independent company under the management of Nils Wolcke and will further develop the field of rational phytotherapy within the group of companies - according to initial considerations.

With 600 employees and 270 million Euro in sales, MEDICE is one of the largest, medium-sized companies in Germany, and one of the most successful family-owned and –managed businesses in the German pharmaceutical industry.

Through this new cooperation, products and expertise in manufacturing as well as development and sales, will promise an enrichment for both sides: "MEDICE and Schaper & Brümmer complement each other, and we are convinced that we can successfully continue the tradition of the two family-owned companies," said the managing partners of MEDICE, Dr. Katja Pütter-Ammer and Dr. Richard Ammer.

In Salzgitter, this joining of forces in the face of increasingly fierce competition, was also welcomed with a very positive response: "Right from the start, the talks were friendly and fair. The company and its employees will be in the right hands," said the remaining shareholders Frauke Schwerdtfeger (née Schaper), and Wiebke and Maike Schaper.
